The inaugural Kimberley Marine & Coastal Science Symposium hosted by the WA Marine Science Institution & Royal Society of WA was held at the WA Maritime Museum, Fremantle on Friday May 20, 2011. Bringing together for the first time the latest research and reviews of work to-date on Kimberley coastal and marine environments, the Symposium featured presentations from an array of scientific experts. The launch of KMRS was held early on during the day and received great support and feedback alongside the opening of local Kimberley photographer Peter Strain's Line of Sight exhibition.
KMRS would like to congratulate WAMSI & RSWA, in particular WAMSI CEO Steve Blake, on the superb standard set through the Symposium and extend our sincere appreciation of their ongoing support of the KMRS venture. Congratulations also to all those who presented and contributed to the day's proceedings and thank you for your support! We look forward to ongoing progression, synthesis and diversification of marine research efforts throughout the Kimberley as a result.
